About Ressence
Benoît Mintiens was an industrial designer who had never made a watch — which is exactly why Ressence looks like nothing else in horology. The dial is not a dial: it's a system of orbiting discs that rotate within rotating discs, so the entire face continuously reorganizes itself. In the Type 3 and Type 5, the display module is filled with oil, killing all refraction so the time appears printed on the crystal — like e-ink made of mechanics. There is no crown; you set it through the caseback.
It is the rare watch that genuinely advanced the state of the art of *reading time*, and wearing one feels like wearing a concept car.
