Type 1° Round
$4,200
Founded in 2009 by Belgian industrial designer Benoît Mintiens, Ressence has risen to prominence in the world of horology through its highly innovative approach to watchmaking. The brand is recognized for its distinct design language and unique, oil-filled timepieces.
About Ressence
Benoît Mintiens was an industrial designer who had never made a watch — which is exactly why Ressence looks like nothing else in horology. The dial is not a dial: it's a system of orbiting discs that rotate within rotating discs, so the entire face continuously reorganizes itself. In the Type 3 and Type 5, the display module is filled with oil, killing all refraction so the time appears printed on the crystal — like e-ink made of mechanics. There is no crown; you set it through the caseback.
It is the rare watch that genuinely advanced the state of the art of *reading time*, and wearing one feels like wearing a concept car.
