About Sylvain Pinaud
Sylvain Pinaud is a French independent watchmaker who grew up at his father's bench, trained at the Morteau watchmaking school, and spent years in discreet ateliers and then major manufactures before setting up on his own in Sainte-Croix, high in the Jura. His is a complete workshop — lathes and milling machines beside century-old tools — where restorations of antique pieces sit next to innovative prototypes, and where components are cut and movements decorated in-house before assembly. The Monopoussoir Chronograph, a single-pusher column-wheel movement framed by a peripheral crystal, earned him the title Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France; the Origine that followed took the Horological Revelation prize at the 2022 GPHG. Everything is finished by hand — watchmaking, in his words, at the crossroads of art and science.
