Microbrand
Pinion
pinionwatches.comFounded in 2013 by former digital-media designer Piers Berry, Pinion built its reputation on a rare one-person, designer-as-maker model: every watch is personally designed, hand-assembled, regulated to within a few seconds a day, and tested in England, using Swiss and German movements and components. Its debut Axis collection sold out in its first year, and Pinion watches have since appeared in films and TV including Fast & Furious 9, Doctor Who and The Gentlemen, alongside bespoke editions for military units such as RAF 617 Squadron. A member of the British Watch & Clock Makers Alliance, Pinion is known for restrained, timeless design with balanced proportions, clean typography and 100m-rated cases, and in-house engraved casebacks.
Worth knowing
Prices are firmly in mid-tier territory (around $1,250-$1,850) rather than entry-level microbrand pricing, and as a tiny one-maker operation production volumes and after-sales capacity are limited.
