Founded by watchmaker Justin Walters, Marin Instruments launched with the Skin-Diver, a watch widely praised in the enthusiast press as a 'skin diver for the 21st century.' Rather than a literal homage, the Skin-Diver takes the slab-sided, elongated case cues of mid-century divers and reworks them into an original, slim 39mm design powered by a Swiss Sellita SW200-1 automatic. The brand cultivates a 'built for the journey' adventure ethos and has earned a strong following through coverage from Fratello, Time+Tide, and other microbrand-focused outlets, releasing limited-run color variants and sterile instrument-style models like the Desert PVD.
