THE STORY Type 20 refers to a specification for pilot’s chronographs issued by the French Ministry of Defense. The unique feature of the Type 20 was the ‘flyback’ function, which allows the pilot to easily reset the chronograph hand, and quickly start timing a new event without the lag in time of pushing two more buttons. Other characteristics of the original Type 20 chronographs were: a 38mm diameter case, a black dial with luminescent indexes and hands, a hand-wound mechanical movement with a power reserve of over 35 hours, a relative precision of + or – 8 seconds per day and finally, the capacity to withstand the running, stopping and resetting of the chronograph more than 300 times without causing any problems to the movement. The Type 20 Furtivité Limited Edition is a testament to stealthiness. Its name was chosen to emphasise its military overtones and its exclusive and elusive character. The anthracite shade provided by its Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating offers enhanced durability and lends it a sleek, inconspicuous identity that subtly complements any outfit. The Type 20 Furtivité is limited to 134 pieces and is powered by our caliber AM2, developed and made by Manufactu

About Airain
Airain has a genuine vintage pedigree: in the 1950s it was among the small group of French houses (alongside Breguet, Dodane and Vixa) commissioned to supply the Type 20 flyback chronograph to the French military, and in 1962 it launched the original Sous-Marine dive watch. After decades of dormancy the name was revived by collector-led group CDMLEC (also behind Lebois & Co. and Fixoflex). The modern brand leans hard into historical accuracy, reissuing the Type 20/21 column-wheel flyback chronograph with a Swiss AMT hand-wound movement and the Sous-Marine diver with a La Joux-Perret automatic, in vintage-correct dimensions and finishing.
